Somali-born U.S. Congresswoman says she is “very confident” that the Speaker of the House will take action against Congresswoman Lauren Boebert.

US Representative Ilhan omar he said he was confident that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would take “decisive action” in the coming days against Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert. notes about Omar, who is considered Islamophobic.

Omar’s comments on Sunday were the latest in a string of events launched more than a week ago, when a video posted on Facebook showed Boebert speaking at an event and describing his interaction with Omar. , keeps never happening.

In the video, Boebert said a Capitol police officer approached him “broken in the face” before climbing into the elevator and closing the doors.

“I look to my left and there’s Ilhan Omar. And I said, ‘Well, he doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine,'” Boebert says with a laugh.

Boebert’s comments about Omar not carrying a backpack were an obvious reference to not carrying a bomb.

Fast reaction

The reaction to the video was quick.

Boebert apologized for his comments during the first term in which he pledged to abide by Washington’s gun laws. But a phone call between the two women ended in anger after Boebert showed no remorse.

Democrats then called on the House to remove Boebert from his commission because of what he called anti-Muslim arrogance.

“I’ve had an interview with the speaker, and I’m very confident that he will take decisive action next week,” Omar said on CNN’s Union State program.

“When I first came to Congress, I was worried that I would not be allowed to swear because there was a ban on the hijab. He promised to take care of me. He kept that promise. He made me another promise that he would take care of this. And I believe it. ”

There was no immediate comment from Pelosi or Boebert.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy defended Boebert last week, saying he publicly and personally apologized to Omarri.

Omar did not tell Pelos what action he could take.

The U.S. House of Representatives voted last month to formally reprimand Republican Congressman Paul Gosar for tweeting an animated video depicting the assassination of progressive Congresswoman Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez.

He also stripped Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee duties earlier this year for her past remarks in favor of anti-Democrat violence.

Boebert, Gosar and Greene are tough conservatives and a staunch ally of former President Donald Trump.
