The West Indies were 224-9, running 162 behind Sri Lanka, when the third day of the first test was cut on Tuesday with persistent drizzles.
They only played over 38 and lost the best part of both sessions.
The West Indies started 113-6 again in response to Sri Lanka’s 386 and this morning they were joined by batters Kyle Mayers and Jason Holder, who added about 50 to their partnership.
63 joined Mayers Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne before being caught in the 45th by spinner Dhanajaya de Silva in the 45th.
Holder was out for 36, Dushmantha Chameera caught Praveen Jayawickrama at the point of his left arm spinner, leaving the tourists 175-8.
Rakheem Cornwall and Joshua da Silva took the West Indies to lunch, but in the fifth, then Cornwall misjudged a short ball from Suranga Lakmal and carried it to the top edge of the square.
