Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the RIA Novosti news agency that Moscow still considered the summit between the world’s major nuclear powers “necessary.”

France also issued a statement stressing that the five powers have reiterated their determination to control and disarm nuclear weapons. He said they would continue with bilateral and multilateral approaches to controlling nuclear weapons.

China said the commitment would “increase mutual trust” and reduce the risk of nuclear conflict.
