Women’s PSL is also in my head, says PCB President Ramiz Raja

Ramiz Raja, head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), hopes to start a Pakistan Super League (PSL) for women in the near future.

In a video released by the PCB, the former skipper spoke on a variety of topics, ranging from his performance at Pakistan’s 2021 T20 World Cup to his home series against Australia and England.

“The women’s PSL is also on my mind. Hopefully we can become the first Asian cricket board to launch (the women’s T20 franchise league),” Ramiz said.

PSL is a professional T20 league based on the Pakistan franchise, which competes with six teams from six cities in the country.

Today, Australia hosts the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), and England premiered the women’s The Hundred tournament this year along with the men’s competition.

The Indian Women’s Premier League (IPL) has been fully talked about, but nothing has been done yet.

Raja said the PCB also hopes to launch a PSL under 19, which will feature players from England, next year.

“In October, we hope to launch something similar to the PSL for the under-19 level. We are very excited because it has not happened anywhere in the world,” Raja said.

“England will send players under 19, we will take care of them. We will create a new property,” he added.

He also promised to organize a full season at home in Pakistan, which has been impossible because since the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan bus in 2009, the groups have been reluctant to travel to the country.

“I’ll give you a home season from now on.”

Raja’s comments came after a tumultuous week for the PCB.

He last toured Pakistan in 1998 in Australia, confirming that he will play a full series for the first time in 24 years next year.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) Director-General Tom Harrison flew to Pakistan to meet Raja and added two more T20 Internationals to the five initially planned when England toured the country next year.
