To train Indonesian edutech site teachers – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

With the intention of expanding its operations around the SEA, it merged Global Accelerator Program (GAP) du Malaysia Global Center for Innovation and Creativity (MaGIC).

Teach teachers

Launched in September 2020, there are at least 3 issues in the development of teaching and learning that GuruInovatif wants to address. Access to training and certification, along with digital literacy, guidance and ongoing professional development.

To address these pain points, the platform provides development programs for teachers who teach experienced teachers. Browsing the courses given, it seems that most of the lessons are geared towards Indonesian school curricula, but it seems that there are also some general courses that may be suitable for any teacher, regardless of location.

In addition, there are courses to help teachers navigate how to navigate digital tools for online classes, including how to publish WordPress articles and the basics of using Google Docs.

According to the group, such courses are offered because there are some general concepts and frameworks that any teacher should take to teach effectively. In addition, GuruInovatif aims to respond to all teachers regardless of their goals, subjects or grades.

“Meanwhile, on-demand videos are made so that teachers can flexibly access training, anywhere, anytime,” the team added.

To ensure the success of the courses, GuruInovatif conducts pre-tests before each class to measure a teacher’s initial knowledge of a subject. After the class, another test is conducted to assess how much knowledge is gained from the training.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be given certificates to demonstrate their competence in the subject.

Reaching the target market

GuruInovatif aims to train teachers at various levels, ensuring that its team does not lose teachers on its training journey.

For example, teachers who enter as individuals will be guided through the platform’s self-service model, where demonstrations will be provided on how to use the site.

The GuruInovatif team has also managed to include teachers in collaboration with associations related to teachers and school leaders, along with Indonesian government programs.

Courses to help teachers receive digital tools

Operating on a subscription and payment model for each class, GuruInovatif reported that it currently has more than 100,000 subscribers comprised of teachers and educators. On average, the platform sees between 1,000 and 10,000 new subscribers per month.

Based on the sharing of the group, it seems that they have little problem internalizing teachers who want to improve their training, which shows the demand for their programs. However, the group is seeking funding from investors and venture capital to expand their programs and provide more Indonesian teachers, and hopefully the rest of the SEA countries as well.

Access to the global market

Our goal for the next school year is to make GuruInovatif not only for teachers but also for the education ecosystem (teachers, schools, local government, students, parents, etc.). So we hope to turn GuruInovatif into a Super Application for education.

To further this goal, GuruInovatif has teamed up with MaGIC’s GAP, enabling startups to potentially grow their platform in the APAC region.

GuruInovatif has shared that they want to get advice from experts and tutors to get their startup ready for the global market. The group also hopes to network and collaborate with other startups in the region, creating partnerships in the region and building a potential investment ecosystem.

In addition, to obtain the funding they need to grow their platform, joining GAP will give them access to potential capital in the MaGIC ecosystem through GAP Investment Partners.

Based on the current GuruInovatif site, there is likely to be more to do before you are ready to take on a larger market outside of Indonesia. For example, the main language of the platform is Bahasa Indonesian, and other languages ​​are still available.

In addition, localization is of paramount importance if GuruInovatif wants to scale effectively in the global marketplace, as the courses in each country’s programs must be relevant to its program and taught by experts in their respective fields.
