Midfielder Paul Pogba has been ruled out of the World Cup qualifiers against France against Kazakhstan and Finland with an injury to his right thigh, the French Federation (FFF) reported on Monday.

The Manchester United player was seen coming out of training on Monday with team doctor Franck Le Gall.

“Paul Pogba is forced to retire from the next two games in France against Parc des Princes against Kazakhstan and Finland against Helsinki,” he says in a statement.

The team will be replaced by Jordan Veretout of AS Roma.

France is at the top of Group D with 12 points from six matches and a win over Kazakhstan will secure the team a place in next year’s World Cup finals.

Coach Didier Deschamps, however, was pleased to note that the world champion takes a side that has not won a game in its seven sets.

“The most important thing is to achieve our goal, to qualify for the World Cup. All my energy and our concentration must be on that,” Deschamps said in a press conference.

“We don’t have to think that we are already qualified, because it is only in Kazakhstan. We will go into the game with all the determination and strength to win.”

France will also travel to Finland next Tuesday.
