China reported 89 new COVID-19 cases by Nov. 7, up from 74 a day earlier, its health authority said Monday.

Of the new infections, 65 were cases of local transmission, according to a note from the National Health Commission, compared to 50 days earlier.

More than half of the new local cases were found in Liaoning and Henan provinces.

China reported 46 asymptomatic patients and classified them separately from confirmed cases, compared with 35 a day earlier.

There were no new deaths, leaving the number of deaths at 4,636 unchanged.

Infections have been steadily rising in recent days, with authorities reporting 36 new cases on November 5 and 28 cases a day earlier. Mainland China confirmed a total of 97,823 coronavirus cases on November 7th.

With confirmed symptoms, more than 800 locally transmitted infections have been reported in 19 provincial-level regions since mid-October, leading to a reduction in tourism and leisure businesses in line with Beijing’s zero tolerance policy.
