Sezane store NYC Nolita

We really enjoyed the response 13 reader questions in the past (and hearing everyone weigh in). Here are five more, including a NYC shopping guide and how Carol met her boyfriend …

Q. My family will be visiting New York City soon, and I want to get away one morning to go shopping. Which neighborhood should I go to?
A. The answer is no: Nolita. Start with the beautiful Sézane for the store French clothes and nice bags (Fyi, mention CUPOFJO and you will receive a small gift with the purchase). Then head down Elizabeth Street, which is full of indie stores (don’t miss the scents of Le Labo). After that, walk around the neighborhood and you’ll come across gems wonderful bookstore. If you’re hungry, the locals make you a monkey Parm, where you can get a lifetime sandwich; or grab a coffee and a croissant Balthazar Bakery.

Q. What is your aunt Lulu’s roast chicken recipe? —Deb
A. Yes! When we visit England, my aunt Lulu the night we arrive it always makes roast chicken. I sent him a message for 411: “Hello darling, I love sooooo much Jamie Oliver’s roast chicken recipes, especially. lemon, garlic and rosemary”. Take it for granted, this chicken is VERY delicious and gives the whole house a warm and pleasant smell.

Q. This fall, I took on a new job and moved more than 2,000 miles from my parents. How can I maintain a close relationship with them? – Monika
A. Congratulations on your job! In terms of remoteness, I’ve experienced states (or countries) far away from my parents all my adult life, so we’ve had to build muscle with the long-distance thing. My biggest tip: embrace genius five-minute phone call. A long call to “catch” is so tiring. (Actually, I’m tired of writing that sentence too.) So don’t put pressure on yourself. Call back and forth for five minutes when you’re driving to the grocery store or taking a brisk walk at night. Tell us a fun story from your workday, or ask, “Have you seen the new West Side Story?” No matter how neat, it doesn’t matter! These quick check-ins are what make me feel connected to my parents every day. If in doubt: memes.

Q. Where should I start with makeup, like someone who has never used makeup? – Alison
A. To answer this, I turned to my friend Gemma, makeup fan xa gazillion. His advice? “If you have two things – a concealer and a lipstick – you can get a nice, light face. Start flattening your skin and blotting out the stains with a concealer. (Ordinary stains are between the nostrils, chin and eyebrows.) look for one of your favorite lipsticks, and use it as a red and lip color. ”My two cents: I’m sure you don’t know which lipstick, I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t look amazing. this is a $ 6 one.

Q. How Caroline Donofrio met her boyfriend? – GAM
A.
Wonderful Caroline The former Cup of Jo editor, now an assistant writer, said he was happy to share the story of his relationship. . Then one night, in the wake of the pizza, some engaged friends began to bet on whom I would bring to their next wedding. ‘Maybe this ex-boyfriend!’ said one. ‘Maybe this platonic boy!’ said the other. ‘Maybe I’ll meet someone new!’ I said. I received skeptical glances. That night, I went home and, on a whim, downloaded the Hinge app. Plush he was the first (and only!) person I left. I sent an introductory message saying that I admired her listed Halloween costumes (a giant Teddy Ruxpin doll and a boxed wine that served wine). Three months later, he came with me to my friends’ wedding, and three years later, we are planning our own”.
