Former Pakistani captain Mohammad Hafeez announced on Monday that he will retire from international cricket.
“I say goodbye to international cricket today with pride and joy. In fact, I have won and achieved more than I initially anticipated, and I would like to thank all my cricketers, captains, support staff and the Pakistan Cricket Commission who have helped me throughout my career, ”Hafeez said in a statement.
“And, of course, he made great sacrifices to ensure that I achieved my desire to represent my family in Pakistan globally.”

Hafeez represented Pakistan in 392 international matches, ran 12,780 runs and took 253 wickets, and was also captain in 32 international matches. He was a member of the Pakistani national team that won the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy in England and Wales.
PCB President Ramiz Raja said Hafeez was a “whole-hearted cricketer” who worked tirelessly in his game. “His game evolved over time, adapting quite intelligently to different formats. Later in his career, he became a T20 specialist, where he was never left out of the modern requirements of this test format.
“He proudly wears a green blazer, we are grateful to the PCB. I wish him the best of luck in his future life and thank him again for his outstanding contribution to Pakistani cricket. “
