Australian Open 2022: Novak Djokoivc cancels visa, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison says “rules are rules”

Novak has been denied a visa to Djokovic and will be expelled from Australia after traveling to the country in search of the 10th Australian Open individual championship. It was first reported by The Age and Sydney Morning Herald.

It happened after Djokovic was denied entry to Australia when he arrived in Melbourne for the tournament. “Rules are rules, especially when it comes to our boundaries,” Morrison said he tweeted. “No one is above these rules. Our strong border policies have been instrumental in ensuring that Australia has one of the lowest mortality rates in the world as a result of COVID. We remain vigilant.”

The Victorian government allegedly refused Djokovic’s nightly visa application a few hours before landing in Melbourne, but Djokovic’s lawyers are said to be challenging the country’s decision.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic is entering Djokovic’s visa situation.

The Times of London report says the federal government has asked for help to resolve the visa issue, but the state government has refused to join.

According to the organizers of the Australian Open, Djokovic did not receive any “special benefits” after receiving a medical exemption from participating in the Grand Slam tournament. Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said 26 players without vaccines had applied for a medical exemption and had only been given a “handful”.
