When Americans begin a long holiday weekend, the president says 165 million have been vaccinated and the economy is reopening.

President Joe Biden said victory over the U.S. coronavirus pandemic is at hand, with nearly 165 million people receiving at least one vaccine jab, and the number of COVID-19 cases has dropped, even as the nation returns to normal.

“I set an ambitious goal of having at least 70 percent of American adults quit a shot by July 4. Today, just over a month ago, we are at 62 percent,” President Biden said. About 51% of the U.S. population is fully integrated.

Biden’s notes appeared when Americans showed up ready for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, gathering for outdoor picnics and barbecues, and traveling to family reunions for the official start of the U.S. summer.

“All Americans should be proud of what we’ve achieved and we’ve done it together. But we still have five weeks to achieve our goal,” said Biden, who appeared at a rock climbing gym in Virginia, a state that has lifted all COVID-19 distance and capacity reduction restrictions in private business.

He had Biden set July 4 as the goal To achieve a 70 percent vaccination rate among U.S. adults. This means that 160 million adults would be fully integrated.

The US is under pressure from the World Trade Organization to allow it other nations to manufacture U.S. vaccines.

Biden had announced it before The US would start shipping 20 million doses of U.S. vaccines abroad by the end of June

“If we succeed, we can celebrate independence from the virus on July 4th together, while we celebrate our independence as a nation. The future will be brighter.”

The U.S. has had more than 593,000 deaths since the pandemic began but the number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations has dropped as vaccines have become available. Businesses are reopening and the economy is recovering.

“Across the country, we have moved to an economy that is recovering from the pain and stagnation of a long dark winter for almost 40 years,” Biden said.

The states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Mexico and Hawaii have reached a threshold of 70 percent for the vaccine, Biden administration officials said.

“When I took office, we were dealing with an average of 184,000 cases a day nationwide. And today, we have gone from 184,000 cases a day to less than 20,000 cases a day, ”the president said.

“Thousands of mothers and fathers, grandparents, siblings, neighbors, friends are with us today who would otherwise be lost,” Biden said.

The Biden administration announced earlier this month incentives for people to get vaccinated.

The U.S. now has 80,000 locations across the country for people to get vaccinated. There are 10,000 sites that offer vaccinations without appointments, and Lyft and Uber have offered free rides to and from the vaccination sites.

The administration has partnered with dating apps to help people connect to vaccine sites.
