2022 Australian Open: “Where is Peng Shuai?” they will remove it. t-shirts

Fans showed up at the Australian Open on Friday with clothes and signs which questioned the whereabouts of Chinese tennis star Peng Shuai. A group of people in the stands shouted, “Where’s Peng Shuai?” he said he had a banner. and on the front he said “Wanted” they were wearing shirts with a picture of Peng on them.

Event officials confiscated the items, but only shared photos and videos of the T-shirts and banner online.

Security said the clothes had to be confiscated, “you don’t have to bring a political statement” to the room. The person in the video above asked if he was a “Free Peng Shuai” politician according to Tennis Australia, and the security guard shook his head and said “yes”.

Tennis legend Martina Navratilova said forcing fans to take off their shirts was “just pathetic.”

Peng went missing on November 2 after posting on his social media page that Zhang Gaoli, a former leader of the Chinese Communist Party, had sexually assaulted him. The messages were quickly deleted by the Chinese government and he has since returned to the public and said he had never made such a claim.

Dick Pound, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), after a video call with IOC President Thomas Bach said the team had unanimously decided that Peng was “okay” because he had no public appearance despite concerns from others.

However, many have called for “verifiable” evidence that it is okay to ensure their safety.
