The Taliban He recaptured the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul, on Sunday, after a swift recovery of much of the country after the nation’s president and U.S. forces withdrew. The Taliban released a note on Twitter saying that they had entered the city to provide security and that foreign nationals would not be in any danger. The U.S. and other countries evacuated many of their workers over the weekend chaotic and deadly scenes at the airport expanding while thousands tried to escape.
The Taliban are regaining control of the country before the August 31 deadline set by President Joe Biden to withdraw U.S. troops, and after nearly 20 years of war.
