Tim Paine will step down as captain of Australia

Tim Paine resigned as Australian Test cricket captain on Friday for sending inappropriate text messages to a female colleague, although an investigation by Cricket Australia’s governing body exempted him from any breach of his code of conduct.
The governing body has accepted his resignation, Pain said, deciding that he was aware that a public investigation into the organization’s integrity unit would be conducted.
“Despite being exempt, I deeply regretted this event at the time, and I do so today,” he said at a news conference in Hobart. “I spoke to my wife and family back then and I am very grateful for their forgiveness and support.”

From Melbourne Solar forecaster the newspaper said Pain included an obscene photo in messages sent to his colleague in 2017. “On reflection, my actions in 2017 do not meet the standard of an Australian cricket captain, or according to the wider community,” Pain said.
In a statement, Cricket Australia said: “The committee has accepted Tim’s resignation and will now conduct a process with the national selection board to identify and appoint the new captain.
“Although the council supports an investigation that cleared Tim of any breach of the code of conduct on this issue a few years ago, we respect his decision.
“CA does not support this type of language or behavior.
“Tim will be available for selection on the test team during Ash Summer.”
‘The right decision’
Earlier, announcing his decision, Pain said: “It’s an incredibly difficult decision, but one that is right for me, my family and cricket.” He added that the investigation and one conducted by Cricket Tasmania HR at the same time found no behavioral breakdown.
“We thought this event was behind us and I could fully focus on the team, as I have done for the last three or four years.”
