‘We walk together’: Lebanon seeks economic recovery through Expo 2020 | Gallery

Dubai, EAE – After last year’s explosion in Beirut, Lebanon experienced severe political instability at home and witnessed a diplomatic rift with the Gulf countries as its economy entered a free fall with a spiral of poverty and greater discord.

According to A the latest Al Jazeera report, Three-quarters of the Lebanese population now live in poverty, with the Lebanese pound losing about 90 percent of its value against the U.S. dollar. Much of public life has come to a halt due to power cuts, huge inflation of food and fuel and shortages of medicines.

While these issues are at home, the atmosphere inside the Lebanese pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020 is one of hope, optimism and opportunity.

“Lebanon has experienced so much lately: from the explosion to the economy, to the revolution and then to COVID. The presence of this pavilion is in itself a measure of achievement and success,” said Antoine Char, a staff member at the Al Jazeera pavilion.

We decided to have this slogan “We walk together” in the pavilion here, which has happened and will happen in Lebanon, as we continue to stand. The Diaspora is helping us. We are committed to our future and to changing everything, because we need to show the world that the past is the past and that we are now moving towards change. ”

As visitors enter the pavilion, they are greeted by large projector screens and loud music, depicting life in “Eastern Switzerland,” Char added.

After the exhibition of handicrafts and handicrafts there are more screens where visitors can sit on the swings and “embrace the whole experience” of being in the middle of Lebanon.

“Our goal is to show how Lebanon is rising again and trying to improve its economy,” said Al Jazeera Ludmilla Medawar, founder of lebanesesignature.com.
