At least 23 killed in Kenyan bus accident News

Local officials say 12 people were rescued from a bus that plunged into the Enziu River, including four children.
At least 23 people drowned when a bus carrying them to a wedding in central Kenya was taken from a bridge to a flooded river.
“We have this horrible and horrible accident that happened here this morning,” Charity Ngilu Kitui governor told reporters on Saturday.
“There are more than 23 bodies recovered right now. We have more bodies on the bus,” he said, adding that efforts to recover the bodies would resume on Sunday morning.
Ngilu posted on Twitter in conjunction with the Kenya Red Cross and law enforcement agencies that “they are doing everything they can to search and rescue and even recover.”

He said they had rescued 12 people, including four children. It is unclear how many passengers were on the bus.
At the time of the accident in Kitui County, members of the Mwingi Catholic Church Choir were traveling to the wedding of their male colleague.
Witnesses said the driver was trying to cross the fast-flowing water crossing the bridge, but the force was so strong that the bus was scanning under the rushing currents.
Vice President William Ruto was among those who conveyed his condolences, and also urged drivers to be careful when it rains in various parts of Kenya.
Authorities said they were investigating the incident.
