Abdeen added that the mother of the arrested students, one of whom is suspected of stabbing her, was arrested even after Israeli police searched the family’s home.

In a statement, Israeli police said they had arrested a 14-year-old suspect with the help of a police helicopter and conducted ground searches.

“The suspect, a 14-year-old resident of the area, was placed inside an educational facility hundreds of yards away,” the statement said.

The woman was stabbed at the time of the attack on her children, police said.
