HONG KONG (Reuters) – Hong Kong’s flagship carrier Cathay Pacific Airways (OTC 🙂 said on Saturday that two of its planes, which tested positive for Omicron, had been released for breaching medical care regulations.
Cathay said five of his planes were positive after returning from service in Hong Kong, and the case investigation revealed a serious breach of protocol by some of those people.
“Failure to comply with medical care regulations will result in disciplinary proceedings. Two of these people are no longer employed by Cathay Pacific,” the carrier said in a statement. He did not provide further details. The regulations include spending forty years at home after flying.
“The actions of these people are very disappointing as they undermine the exemplary dedication and compliance shown by our more than 10,000 aircraft,” Cathay said, and health authorities will work closely to strengthen public health protection.
Hong Kong health officials said on Friday that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus had surpassed some of the world’s harshest COVID-19 restrictions, with the city reporting its first cases outside its forty strict systems.
