Investigators are still trying to determine what caused a massive fire in a suburban area of Denver, near the U.S. state of Colorado, which burned neighborhoods and destroyed nearly 1,000 homes and other buildings.
Three people are missing as a result of the hell that broke out on Thursday.
At least seven people were injured in and around Louisville and Superior, 32 miles (20 miles) northwest of Denver in a combined fire of 34,000 people.
The fire, which burned at least 24 square kilometers (9.4 square miles), was not considered an immediate threat, especially as snow and cold temperatures fell on Saturday.
The single-digit snowfall and temperatures provide an astonishing scene among the remains of houses still on fire. Despite the shocking change of weather, the smell of smoke penetrated the empty streets blocked by Humvees National Guard troops.
The conditions exacerbated the misery of the residents as they began to try to recover what was left of their homes from the new year.
