Boris Johnson told lawmakers he was involved in the May 2020 event at the Downing Street Garden in violation of COVID-19 restrictions.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has admitted to attending a garden party at his Downing Street residence in May 2020 in the coronavirus blockade, in violation of his government’s pandemic rules.

Nadim Baba of Al Jazeera, reported outside the London Parliament, said Johnson was “on the ropes like never before” because he admitted he was violating those restrictions.

“People say that the actions of the Prime Minister and the way these allegations are handled have undermined public confidence in the ability to drive during and outside the pandemic, to establish rules and to see them complied with,” he said.

“Boris Johnson knows he has the lowest level among the UK public.”

Johnson, whose prime minister has been ousted as a result of many alleged social events in government blockades, including a number of controversies, has plummeted in recent months.

The Conservative Party of his government has lost its leadership in the polls in front of the main opposition Labor Party and suffered a landslide electoral defeat in December in a historic stronghold.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the UK pandemic continues to rise as the infection rises, rising by more than 150,000 marks on Saturday to become the second largest in Europe, behind Russia.
