2021 French Open: Novak Djokovic dominates Rafael Nadal in the epic final match

Novak Djokovic continues to dominate the tennis landscape when he defeated Rafael Nadal on Friday to reach the final of the French Open. Djokovic, who qualified third, dominated third-placed Nadal 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2.

Djokovic will face No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beat Alexander Zverev in five sets on Friday.

After throwing the first set to Nadal, Djokovic won the next three sets on the way to victory. However, Djokovic found himself 0-2 behind in the fourth set before being ripped off six games in a row to deny Nadal the chance to win the 15th French Nadal. Nadal’s mark in Paris is still remarkable 105-3.

This marked the 58th career encounter between Djokovic and Nadal. With Djokovic’s victory, he advanced 30-28 in the series.

Now Djokovic will win his 19th career Grand Slam title when he plays against Tsitsipas on Sunday. Djokovic’s only French Open title came in 2016 when he defeated Andy Murray in the final. Tsitsipas is the first Greek to reach the individual finals of the Grand Slam.
