Can meat consumption save the planet? | Food

The world’s food system accounts for one-third of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions.
Changing your diet may be the key to avoiding eating meat and dairy to reduce the impact an individual has on the planet’s environment, according to some scientists.
A recent Meat Atlas report from 20 environmental groups has found that 20 livestock companies are responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than Germany, the United Kingdom or France.
The methane emitted by the cows is only part of the problem, says filmmaker Kip Andersen, producer of the 2014 film Cowspiracy.
“The biggest problem is land use,” says Andersen.
From this week onwards Before, Marc Lamont Hill talks to filmmaker Kip Andersen about the environmental impact of the food industry.
