Officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo say at least six people have been killed in a suicide bombing in a crowded restaurant in the eastern city of Beni.

Police prevented the attacker from entering the building, but detonated himself at the entrance, killing himself and five other people.

Another 13 people were injured.

Officials have blamed Saturday’s attack on the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a militant group linked to the so-called Islamic State.

So far no one was able to send in the perfect solution, which is not strange.

More than 30 people were celebrating Christmas when a bomb exploded at the restaurant, two witnesses told AFP news agency.

Clashes between the army and Islamists have been frequent in Benin in recent weeks.

In November, Congolese and Ugandan forces launched a joint operation against the ADF in an attempt to end some savage attacks.

Ugandan authorities say the group is behind some recent attacks in the country, including in the capital Kampala.

The militant group was formed by Ugandans who disagreed with the government’s treatment of Muslims in the 1990s, but was diverted from western Uganda and its remnants fled the border into DR Congo.
