Two boats collided when the North Sea storm hit the coast of the Netherlands and one began to take off water, according to emergency services.
Julietta D, an 18-crew member, collided with another vessel about 32 kilometers (20 miles) west of Ijmuiden Harbor, Royal Dutch Lifeboat Company spokeswoman Edward Zwitser said Monday.
Another boat, an oil and chemical vessel, was also damaged, but was able to continue its journey, Dutch coastguards said in a statement.
He said all crew members were rescued, but did not immediately provide further details of the high seas rescue amid strong winds.
Three helicopters, including a Belgian helicopter, took part in the rescue operation.
Malta-registered Juliette D was harmed, “posing a direct risk to the 18 crew members on board,” Zwitser told The Associated Press in a telephone interview.
Corrie is hampered by rescue efforts, with wind gusts of up to 120 km / h (75 mph) in the North Sea.
Thousands of homes in the northern region were left without light on Monday and flooding was reported in the region’s North and Baltic Sea ports.
The west of the Netherlands was hit hard on Monday morning, with strong gusts uprooting the trees and causing traffic problems.
