All eyes on Kohli batsman, India, South Africa fighting in ODI
[ad_1]
Virat Kohli will play his first international match in seven years in all formats free of the captain’s charge as India face South Africa in the first of three internationals in a single day at Boland Park.
All eyes will also be on KL Rahulen, who leads the Indian team in the ODI series in the absence of Rohit Sharma.
Supporters of Kohli and supporters of Indian cricket hope that Kohli’s differences with the BCCI will be put aside in the interest of the team, and that he will be impressed with the bat. Rahul is expected to turn to Kohli for advice during the series. Captain Jasprit Bumrah said on the eve of the series that Kohli “will always be the leader” in the team.
With new leadership and support staff, India is looking to win the series ahead of the 2023 World Cup. The last time an all-India player played an ODI series was at home against England in March 2021.

Rahul hit the middle order against England, but it remains to be seen whether he will return to the top with Shikhar Dhawan. Ruturaj Gaikwad, who joined the team after a great season at home, may have to wait longer for his ODI debut.
A critical series for Dhawan
All three matches will be decisive for the Dhawan season, as they have already lost their place in the T20 team. He has been under pressure from the South in the past and will be looking to consolidate his first-team starting position with Rohit when the latter returns from injury.

Kohli is likely to join his usual 3rd place, with a draw between Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer for 4th place. Rishabh Pant is expected to finish in 5th place, and Venkatesh Iyer will make his debut in the top 50 at six, after showing hope for New Zealand in the T20s.
The two spinners to play are Yuzvendra Chahal and R. Ashwin, who have been back for more than four years. Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will share the burden of the rhythm department and management may select one of the fastest players on the team as a third player.
South Africa will be in a good mood after a memorable victory in the Test series. Captain Temba Bavuma played some crucial entries in the Tests and will carry that confidence in the ODI series. Quinton de Kock, who retired from Test cricket after the start of the series against India, will begin his life as a white ball player.
Marco Jansen, a big left-winger, who stood out in his girls test series, is expected to hit the Indian batsmen with his extra bounce and short format changes after winning a girls ’bout.
If the evidence were any indication, it would be a very hard-fought affair for the ODIs.
