The “red setting” is not a blockade, but will be limited to 100 people with indoor vaccination cards and events inside the hotel premises and events.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern her marriage has been canceled because the nation is imposing new restrictions to slow the spread of the coronavirus Omicron variant community.

The so-called “red implementation” of the country’s pandemic response includes larger measures, such as wearing the necessary masks and restrictions on meetings; the restrictions will take effect on Monday.

It will have indoor catering settings such as bars and restaurants, events such as weddings and a limit of 100 people. The limit is reduced to 25 people if the halls do not use a vaccination card.

Ardern stressed that “red is not a blockade” that businesses can be open and that people can still visit family and friends and move freely around the country.

“Our plan to handle Omicron cases in the early stages remains the same as in the Delta, where we will quickly test, contact, and isolate cases and contacts to slow the spread,” Ardern told reporters in Wellington on Sunday.

New Zealand was among the few countries that avoided the appearance of the Omicron variant, but Ardern admitted last week that an appearance was inevitable given the high transmissibility of the variant.

The country has managed to sustain the expansion of the Delta variant, an average of about 20 new cases per day. But more and more people are seeing those infected with Omicron arriving in the country and entering the mandatory quarantine.

This has put a strain on the quarantine system and has pushed the government to restrict access for returning citizens while deciding what to do to reopen the border, angering many people who want to return to New Zealand.

About 93 percent of New Zealanders over the age of 12 are fully embedded, and 52 percent have dropped their booster. The country has just started vaccinating children between the ages of 5 and 11.

Ardern’s marriage has been postponed

The latest restrictions come after nine cases of the Omicron variant were detected in a single family that flew to Auckland for a wedding earlier this month.

A family in the Nelson-Marlborough region attended a wedding and other events while in Auckland, and Ardern said they were in contact with “more than 100 people at these events,” Ardern said.

“This means that Omicron is operating in Auckland and perhaps in the Nelson-Marlborough region if nowhere else,” he added.

The red-setting move also affects Arderni personally.

The prime minister had planned to get married next weekend, but due to new restrictions, the celebration will be postponed.

“I agree with many other New Zealanders who have had such an experience as a result of the pandemic and I feel sorry for anyone caught up in that scenario,” he said.

“My marriage is not going to go ahead,” he added. Ardern did not disclose his wedding date, but it was said to be immediate.

Asked by reporters how Clarke Gayford felt about canceling her marriage with a longtime partner and host of a fishing trip, Ardern replied, “That’s the way life is.”
