At Home in the Hamptons with Kate Rheinstein Brodsky – Wired PR Lifestyle Story

It would be hard to grow up as the daughter of a famous designer and the legendary owner of the store Suzanne Rheinstein and don’t let her be influenced by her elegant looks. But along the way, Kate Rheinstein Brodsky developed her own style. And although she didn’t become an interior designer, she followed in her mother’s retail footsteps, opening one of New York’s most famous design destinations, FIREPLACE. In her elegant weekend retreat at the Hamptons (which has been worth a lot more in the last year and a half), Kate’s tremendous love for color and pattern knows no bounds. Please tag me and Susana with Kate for a visit to her family home on a separate stage.

As soon as Kate saw what would become of her Hampton home, she knew it was him. Others may have been terrified of her condition (she needed a new foundation as well as all new electricity, plumbing, etc.), but the location was right and Kate knew she had the bones to transform into a spacious, welcoming family home. The architectural firm Bories & Shearron, with which he collaborated in the NYC apartment, was called in to fix the situation and for the next three years, the abandoned 1901 beach house underwent a makeover.

Throughout the house, Kate’s love for the green is evident, from the bold painted floors, inside and out.

to the flowers of the feast,

and the most thoughtful and intelligent details of the design.

But Kate’s creativity and knowledge of design hardly stops there. From hand-painted murals to gem-shaped floor geometry to imaginative space solutions, its cheerful colors and patterns, interpreted in a sophisticated and fearless but pleasant way, make its home welcoming for adults, children and occasionally naughty dogs (I’m thinking. Peaches of you) the same!

And if you’re, like many of us, obsessed with Kate’s prolific style, then her famous design shop, FIREPLACE, must be visited, in person or online. From old and vintage furniture to new custom pieces, lighting, accessories and more, KRB’s offerings are elegant, eclectic and utterly delightful!

Combining the best of tradition with its colorful and charismatic sensibility, Kate seeks out or commissions pieces with character and craftsmanship, from contemporary classics like her Freddie tables.

Rose Cummings’s ancient restored upholstery in this ever-upholstered Delphinium like this painted berger

for easy access to accessories like its rotating range of ikat lamp screens.

Kate has a special appreciation for her hand-crafted work with many artists and artisans to create custom pieces for the store, based on art from a collection like Marian McEvoy’s sunflower collages.
