Australian Maxwell may miss a tour of Pakistan due to a long-delayed marriage

Glenn Maxwell is not sure if she will be touring Australia in March-April, as she and her boyfriend plan to have a delayed wedding.

Maxwell and pharmacist Vini Raman were married in March 2020, but have had to re-arrange their marriage several times as a result of COVID-19’s blockade and restrictions.

The 33-year-old would be among the first to be selected for Australia’s limited matches in Australia from March 29 to April 5, after a series of three-match trials in the South Asian nation.

“I find it awesome to have a tour back there. I think I saw it in 1998 the last time we went there,” he told reporters on Tuesday.

“Whether or not I’m going to go there will probably depend on my boyfriend because my wedding is going to take place at that time. So I’m probably not the right person to ask that question.”

Asked if her boyfriend might think about moving the wedding again, Maxwell said, “It’s not an option. We’ve already changed it a couple of times, so I think this is it.”

Australia will play in the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-finals in Pakistan on Thursday in Dubai.

While he was in good form in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Maxwell has not had a destructive entry with a World Cup that Australian fans would like.

However, he was hungry for chances in the last two games, ending up unbeaten in his victories over Bangladesh and the West Indies.

“I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but I don’t have two playoffs in a row, and that’s pretty rare in my career,” he said with a laugh.

“The above order goes very well if I don’t spend so much time there. I’ve been in a very good mental space, so I hope (I’m not) asking again or I hope I don’t have another zero. Get out and stay at the other end.” he added.
