Visitors from Nigeria to India, Brazil, Turkey Coronavirus pandemic News

Nigeria will ban entry for non-Nigerian travelers who have traveled to India, Brazil and Turkey in the past two weeks due to concerns about the rapid spread of coronavirus in those three nations.

The travel ban announced on Sunday will not apply to passengers passing through these countries, the Nigerian presidential steering committee COVID-19 said in a statement.

“These precautionary measures are necessary steps to minimize the risk of an increase in COVID-19 cases entering Nigeria from other countries,” he said.

Nigerians who have been in these countries for the past 14 days and permanent residents will be required to undergo mandatory quarantine for one week at government-approved facilities upon arrival.

All passengers arriving in Nigeria must show a negative COVID-19 test within the previous 96 hours of the trip within 72 hours.

Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa, has reported 165,000 coronavirus cases and more than 2,060 deaths since COVID-19 was launched in China in 2019.
