BlackRock, AmEx Extends Hybrid Work Plans as Omicron Deploys in US, Reuters

(Reuters) – BlackRock Inc (NYSE 🙂 and American Express Co (NYSE 🙂 is extending its hybrid work plans as the Omicron COVID-19 variant is rolled out across the United States.
The world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock, is offering flexibility until January 28 and allows U.S. employees to work from where they are most comfortable, according to a source familiar with the matter.
The new variant has spread rapidly since it was detected across the country on December 1, replacing Delta as the main strain and sparking a new wave of infections that pushed daily cases close to 1 million on Monday.
BlackRock previously required more than half of its employees to work from the office for an average of three days a week from November.
AmEx has decided to postpone the launch of “Amex Flex (NASDAQ :)” to the United States on January 24 after announcing that workers in the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany will begin returning to office on January 24.
Some Wall Street banking and investment firms, including Bank of America (NYSE :). Citigroup (NYSE 🙂 and Jefferies Financial Group have reversed their push to return employees to the office amid concerns about the rapidly spreading Omicron variant.
