Join the food distribution scene
Merchants can access Boost Makan directly within the Boost Biz merchant app and register on the food ordering platform without setting an internal commission for a limited time, but we don’t know how many commissions it will take from transactions.
Although Boost has more than 380,000 merchants across Malaysia, with a large segment being F&B businesses, it is not clear how many F&B merchants there are at Boost Makan at the moment.
However, there are a variety of foods, such as local, Chinese, Asian, western, vegetarian, and soft drinks, such as cafes, restaurants, home businesses, food trucks, etc., depending on where you are located.
Supposedly, there is a 20-mile shipping coverage radius (but expensive fees are expected), and users can also pick it up, place orders without contacting the store, and go by car (if applicable).
Boost Makan offers retailers a RM 50 incentive to access them, and a RM5 cashback offer for users who start making orders from the website between now and 31 December 2021.
A decent UI that could be better
After checking Boost Makan myself, I saw that the UI was a bit confusing. It’s likely because they haven’t entered too many retailers yet (in my area), so to complete that, Boost displays previews of their menus to fill in the blanks.
After further packaging, however, the UI should be cleared to make it easier and easier to move around.
Another IU complaint I have is that when I want to get out of the payment cart to add more items or continue browsing in a store, I somehow get back to the Boost home page. This means that I have to keep opening the Boost Makan and find the trader again to complete my orders, which is ineffective and can get angry quickly.
There is also a type of error, which I also choose to order from a store in the Boost Makan section that is RM6 or less, because I pay more than RM6 for delivery.
Please note that when ordering from Boost Makan, the only payment option you have is to use your Boost Wallet, which is quite limiting if you are not a Boost user.
I haven’t tried to place an order yet, so I can’t comment further on the service, but for now, it’s clear that Boost Makan is still testing the waters, and hopefully more changes will occur in the coming weeks. .
We contacted Boost to find out who their third-party shipping partners are, as well as the commission fees they have charged and how many F&B merchants are in Boost Makan. After receiving the group’s responses, we will update the piece.
