Video Length 25 minutes 10 seconds

Concerned European leaders may cut off gas supplies to Moscow if tensions in Ukraine worsen.

Russia is Europe’s largest natural gas supplier, with a third of shipments passing through Ukraine.

Moscow has in the past suspended gas flows for political purposes, such as when Russia seized Crimea in 2014.

As tensions over Ukraine escalate, European leaders are concerned about repeating history.

The United States is fighting to help European allies secure alternatives to North Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Washington acknowledges that it will be difficult to divert global gas supplies.

So will there be enough fuel to support Europe’s energy needs?
