(Reuters) – The North Carolina Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered a postponement of the state’s primary election from March to May 2022, citing legal challenges to the political mapping of Gerry’s rule.
The court said in a five-page written judgment that it had ordered the state to hold primaries for all charges on May 17 and ordered a lower court judge to conduct further court proceedings.
Judges said the decision was “of great public interest in the matter in these cases, given the importance of the issues for the constitutional jurisprudence of this state and the urgent need to reach a final decision as soon as possible.”
