Chevron has delayed the return of the office to office staff as a result of Omicron

(Reuters) – Chevron said on Thursday that it was delaying a full return to the planned office in January for the two largest workplaces in the U.S. as the Omicron variant spreads across the United States.

This week, the United States reported a record number of coronavirus cases based on a seven-day average, with more than 290,000 new infections daily, according to a Reuters count.

Chevron (NYSE :), which delayed plans to return to work for the San Ramon and Houston offices, has joined several large U.S. employers in recent weeks with plans to bring in workers from home to their corporate campuses. A Chevron spokesman did not specify when the staff would return to the office full-time.

The North American unit of the energy company Engie was supposed to return U.S. workers to its offices next month, but moved the start date to the end of February, according to a person familiar with the matter. The company did not respond to a request for comment.
