ComfortDelGro Bus Pte Ltd, the total private bus company of ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited, announced today (November 18) that it has won a tender from the National University of Singapore (NUS) to provide bus services on its campus.

The multi-year contract, worth more than S $ 30 million, is to electrify NUS’s entire bus service fleet, making it Singapore’s largest electrified private bus fleet.

“We are pleased to have won the tender to operate the largest private electrified bus fleet on the NUS Kent Ridge campus, as this is fully in line with the sustainability goals of ComfortDelGro Bus and NUS,” said Stephen Chow, CEO of ComfortDelGro. Bus.

“We are not new to providing NUS shuttle service for almost two decades. But to prepare for the transition to electrification, in July this year we tested an electric bus as part of the NUS shuttle service, which clarified how we can better manage the entire fleet next year.”

NUS electric buses will start operating in the third quarter of 2022.

It will continue to serve the eight bus routes on campus, including the NUS Kent Ridge campus, University Town, as well as the NUS Bukit Timah campus daily from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., including holidays.

They will have wheelchair access and will be equipped with intelligent functions such as a telematics system, anti-fatigue system, as well as a forward and side collision warning system.

Earlier in March, ComfortDelGro Engineering shared that it is studying it establishing an infrastructure for charging electric vehicles in campus parking lots.

The successful NUS bid came about two months after its sister company, ComfortDelGro Engineering, won a tender to operate 479 of the 632 electric vehicle chargers to be introduced next year.

The chargers — 192 x 22kW AC chargers, 279 x 7kW AC chargers and 8 x 50kW DC chargers — will be installed in the central, eastern and western regions of Singapore.

Earlier this week, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index Asia Pacific (DJSI Asia Pacific) also became one of the top four companies in the world for sustainability, after being listed in 2019.

Since then, ComfortDelGrok has improved its performance this year to stand at 87th percentile among peer-to-peer industries, among all companies evaluated this year, compared to the 80th percentile position in 2020.
