Healthy Habits – Camille Styles

I’ve been thinking a lot this weekend about why we keep going some among our New Year’s resolutions … others seem to be on their way before the start of the year! I think it has a lot to do with what we get to do in our daily lives. After all, Aristotle said, “We are what we do over and over again. Excellence then is not an action, but a habit. ”Experts say the process takes 21 days for something to become commonplace, and that seems to come from my experience. sharing two (I’m sure I’ll add a couple of your own to my list!) I’ll go first. Here are some habits that are quite automatic for me and really enrich the way I feel every day:

  • A long walk through the neighborhood with Adam (and now Phoebe) every morning. It feels great to get out of training early, and it has become the perfect time to discuss what’s going on in our lives.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast. I can truly say that now I wake up waking up to nutritious things like steel oats, Greek yogurt and grapefruit and as a result I start the day in a lively way.
  • To sleep before bed.
  • Putting things together properly. It only takes a second, but the end result is a house that always feels clean and organized. This coincidentally has a very calming effect on my head as well.
  • Reply to emails within 24 hours. I use the flag system in my mail program so I can always see which emails need to be handled and which ones I have addressed. The result is like the following: clean inbox = clean head.

And some of the habits I would have liked this year. One thing I’ve noticed about habits: you need to know why you want to do them … what is the end result you expect?

  • Stretching every night. I was very good at this, but I stopped when I was pregnant and didn’t pick it up again. I’ve noticed that when I stretch regularly, my muscles tense a lot less.
  • A headless snack. Yeah Al that sounds pretty crap to me, Looks like BT aint for me either, Looks like BT aint for me either.
  • Reading at night instead of watching TV. I was very good at another one, but I slipped in the last year or two. I have no intention of leaving Downton Abbey or anything (let’s not go crazy!) but there are some not-so-great shows that I usually watch at night, and instead when I think about how many books I could read …
  • Thank you for writing right now. I always have a list of notes I need to write down, and I would like to sit down at the table every morning and get used to sending it right away.

Okay, I’ve spilled it – now it’s your turn! I’d love to hear what habits you keep … and you’d love to practice this year. Leave a comment below and hopefully we’ll all be challenged to add one or two to our lists!
