Seeing two elite athletes from different sports face to face in a boxing ring will always be a rare attraction. That was one of the first rounds of the show NBA Deron Williams star and Frank Gore on the poster below the third-highest overall NFL runner of all time A rematch between Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley. In the end, Williams was able to get the victory of the split decision in a weird show that had the score of the ring judges.

Williams entered the ring with a huge advantage in height and reach, and put in more than a decade of experience training early in boxing gyms to work early, using a long blow to keep Gore from reaching out. In the opening round, that jab allowed Williams to follow Gore with a sharp right hand that rumbled.

Gore came back on the second lap, rocking Williams with a double jab and from right wing to right. Williams responded with a wild moment where he tried to pull Gore back from the ropes and had to be checked by a Gore doctor beforehand. When the action resumed, Gore returned the favor, trying to pull the ropes on the opposite side of the Williams ring.

After a warning from the court, the fight settled into something similar to a boxing competition. Williams took the fight in the third and fourth rounds, and with more resistance Gore was clearly tired. However, Gore found the right moment to land the big bombs while Williams threw the strikes.

Williams had the biggest moment of the fight in the 3rd round, punching Gore in the corner. The judge came in and gave Goreri a standing ovation, telling the former NFL Pro Bowler was holding on to the ropes and giving Williams a 10-8 turn.

At the end of the four rounds, the referees scored 38-37, 37-38 and 40-35, giving Williams a split decision victory.

After the fight, Williams said he was officially “one and finished” as a boxer.

“I’m going to sit somewhere with my old dumb ass and let these professionals do this shit,” Williams said. “Actually, I probably looked awful out there … As soon as you get out here and start touching, all your workout comes out the window.”
