LG: My recommendation is, I think it’s not as fun as Adrienne’s but it’s still pretty good. This is Lincoln–
MC: Yes, what can be as fun as reading 14 books a week?
LG: I’m recommending Lincoln miniseries. I’m a little late. It first aired last winter on CNN in the winter of 2021. It is now available on HBO Max. It’s all on HBO Max, man, I love HBO Max. Isn’t it funny to think, here’s a little side note, if you want a little tangent, to think about how HBO Max changed its name a while ago, we were all there, what are they doing? That’s horrible, what happened to Go? And now it’s Max. And is there HBO Min? What is this? And then the interface of the app is still very awesome. As if you’re trying to watch HBO Max on the iPad, good luck.
But they have all the good things now, all the series, they have Inheritance and film Dune, and whatever. So now I’ve been watching this Lincoln the miniseries is a six-part series about President Abraham Lincoln. It is very good; Sterling tells K. Brown. It has some never-before-seen images and information. There’s a bit … what’s it called? A historical reproduction, where you see the actors in a blurry way, like a tall, dark-haired man who must have been Lincoln in the background. But a lot of historians make a contribution as a head start, and it’s pretty interesting.
And really, in my opinion, how would I say this, I think we tend to be a bit obsessed with getting people into the category of heroes or villains in our modern society, and actually the higher or the more successful or the stronger. people are more nuanced and complex than that. And I think Lincoln certainly falls into that category, and I think he revises the idea because people thought he was an honest abolitionist, and it was actually a little more complicated than that. So I’m only in the third section, but so far I like it a lot and I’ll probably see it all. So I recommend watching it Lincoln miniseries on HBO Max.
