Elizabeth Holmes’ jury gathered in the courtroom for more than 30 minutes to listen to an audio recording of Theranos Inc.’s founder, which was played to investors at the trial.
The recording of a 2013 conference call was captured in October by a Texas investor who testified. The young entrepreneur showed off his company’s outstanding leaps in technological innovation, rising stock prices and a closing window on investment opportunity.
Bryan Tolbert, a Dallas-based Hall Group executive, said two months ago that Holmes was so convincing in a conference call that he agreed to increase his company’s stake in Theranos from $ 2 million to $ 7 million.
Jurors are facing a three-day debate in a federal court in San Jose, California, after hearing testimony from a three-month trial.
The 37-year-old businessman was accused of fraud and conspiracy in 2018, the same year that the starting point for the launch of his blood test fell, after previously earning a $ 9 billion valuation. Holmes will face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.
