India’s starting player Mayank Agarwal was nominated for the ICC Player of the Month Award on Saturday after his outstanding performance in the Test series against New Zealand and South Africa.
In addition to Agarwal, New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel and Australian pacer Mitchell Starc also qualified for the award.

He set the tone for the entire series by dismissing Rory Burns with a first ball from the first Test. As he batted, he held on to Travis Head with 35 innings and added 85 crucial runs for his eighth wicket.

In the second test in Adelaide, Starc pulled out six wickets and scored 58. This, in turn, helped England reduce to 236 by scoring four excellent wickets in the first inning, giving Australia a huge 237 advantage in the race.
In the Boxing Day Test, Starc selected two decisive wickets in the first inning, including that of England captain Joe Root.
His 24 innings didn’t help Australia gain an 82-point lead, and that was enough to bring England to 68. He received three wickets in the second inning as Australia won by one inning to hold the ballot box.
