England recalled Broad for the fourth Ashes Test

England have sealed off the Stuart Broad sealer for the fourth round of the Ashes Test, but the batter who was ruled out for Melbourne 68 has remained intact, assistant coach Graham Thorpe said on Tuesday.
The collapse of Melbourne Cricket Ground’s second inning led to an inning and a 14-run defeat, leaving Australia with an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series and the right to hold on to the small ballot box until 2023.
The absence of Broad in two of the three games in the series so far has confused many spectators, including Australian Steve Smith, but the 35-year-old will return to bowling with James Anderson at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).
Ollie Robinson and Chris Woakes both have shoulder injuries, Thorp said Mark Wood and spinner Jack Leach will form a specialized bowling unit.

Ben Stokes will add to the seam support and Thorpe said he hoped to get rid of the frustrations of a disappointing tour of Australia.
“I hope to include a couple of caged tigers in this game, one of them Ben and the other Stuart Broad,” Thorp told SCG reporters on the eve of the match.
“It’s important to get the players in the right mood. I think they want to make a team performance for themselves and the team.”
Thorpe is preparing for the absence of coach Chris Silverwood, who was unable to attend the test after being blown up at COVID-19 in the English camp.
The former batsman test said the health protocols established to move the series forward were a distraction for players.
“The preparations have been tough … we’ve been distracted by COVID, it’s hard to say,” Thorp added.
“But we also know we didn’t play enough cricket when we were in the middle. This week we have a chance to perform very well on a great cricket field.”
