Josh Inglis was born and raised in England at the age of 14, but the 26-year-old says he will not be divided on loyalty if he has a chance to keep the wickets for Australia in the next Ashes series.
Following the resignation of the bombing of Captain Tim Paine, the hosts have left the team without specialist players just over a week after the start of the series.
Alex Carey, who has more experience, is also in the frame, and Inglis will know in the coming days whether or not he will make his debut in the Brisbane test on December 8 against the team he supported.
“When I was growing up in England, of course, I accepted England, but that all changed when I moved to Australia,” Inglis told reporters on Monday.

“When you start building a path in professional cricket, it’s pretty hard to try to play in a team and not help them. That changed pretty quickly.”
Inglis has averaged 34.03 in 45 games, but has not played a cricket ball since September after joining the Australian Twenty20 World Cup squad.
He failed to get into the World Cup pitch, so Paine’s replacement candidate will be backed by three centuries in Western Australia last season, as well as in training for next week’s “A” game against England’s Lions.

“My vision is very clear, I will play a‘ A ’match or a test match next week,” he added.
“My focus is very clear on the preparation of my red ball … I’m very happy with where my game is at the moment. I’m ready.”
While Carey, a capless but 83-year-old international short-format veteran, hit his case with a one-day cent for South Australia over the weekend, Inglis has had people like Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne talk to him.
“You don’t want to read too much, after all, because they’re not the guys who make the decision,” Inglis said.
“But it’s nice to hear them say very nice things about me.”
