Striker Ansu Fati has been ruled out of the final two rounds of the 2022 World Cup by Spain against Greece and Sweden after Barcelona suffered a hamstring tie in Celta Vigo’s 3-3 draw on Saturday.

Fati was the youngest goal scorer in Spain in September 2020, but has not played in his home country for more than a year due to a serious knee injury.

Barca scored the opening goal for Celta, but was forced to rest at the break and Spain released a statement as soon as Espanyol striker Raul de Tomas replaced him in the starting line-up.

Spain is second in Group B, with Sweden leading by two points.

Spain will visit Greece on Thursday before taking on Sweden next Sunday, having to finish first in the set to automatically qualify for the 2022 World Cup and avoid qualifying.
