FIFA World Cup qualifiers: The Dutch have called up a replacement trio

Goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen and Tottenham Hotspur striker Steven Bergwijn are among the three substitutes called up for the Netherlands national team for next week’s decisive World Cup qualifiers, the Dutch football association KNVB has said.
Cillessen, 32, was the first-choice goalkeeper in the Netherlands until the European Championships, but tested positive for the new coronavirus and was left out of the tournament for half a year.

Since then the Valencia goalkeeper has not called up new coach Louis van Gaal, but after goalkeeper Joel Drommel’s substitute came out ill, he was called up to join the team on Tuesday.
Bergwijn, a 24-year-old, replaces the injured Steven Berghuis, and 18-year-old Devyne Rensch will replace his Ajax Amsterdam Jury Stamp, who is also injured.

The Netherlands will host Montenegro in Podgorica on Saturday in the semi-finals of Group G and then face Norway in Rotterdam next Tuesday for first place and automatic qualification for next year’s Qatar World Cup.
The Dutch take a two-point lead over Norway.
