Crystal Palace midfielder Conor Gallagher has been rewarded for his Premier League performance this season with a new call-up from England ahead of the final World Cup qualifier against San Marino, the team announced on Sunday.

Gallagher, loaned out by Chelsea, has been a notable player for Palace this season with four goals and two assists to help the London club rise to 10th place in the table.

“I’m really happy and excited to have been called up to the senior team. I’m determined to get the most out of the experience and I know I have a lot of work to do,” said 21-year-old Gallagher. He has 36 caps with the England youth team.

“I want to thank everyone who has helped me so far in my career and I will do my best to be proud.”

England have said Jordan Henderson and Jack Grealish have returned to their respective clubs to report the injuries, saying Raheem Sterling will not be moving to San Marino due to a personal problem.

Mason Mount and Luke Shaw, both called, will not travel, respectively, because they are recovering from a dental operation and a blow.

England are in first place in Group I and need just one point from Monday’s final match to secure automatic qualifying for next year’s Qatar World Cup.
