(Reuters) – Hackers endangered the Federal Post Office’s external mail system on Saturday, Bloomberg News reported.
The hackers sent tens of thousands of messages from an FBI email account informing them of a possible cyberattack, the report added, citing the organization to track Spamhaus Project threats.
The FBI is aware of fake emails generated from an FBI account, the agency said in a statement to Bloomberg News.
