One in four Singapore workers plans to leave their current employer in the first half of 2022, according to a survey by the Indeed job portal.
A survey of 1,002 workers in the country between the ages of 16 and 55 also found that nearly half were unsure whether they would continue in their current job for the next six months.
Covid-19 brought about changes in needs
Many referred to the pandemic as a reason for workers to leave. With the increase in Covid-19, half of the workforce is realizing that they don’t like their current job, and 46 percent report an increase in stress levels.
Two-fifths or 44 percent of employees say the workload was heavier. Meanwhile, one-third of respondents said they are experiencing more kisi and one-fifth feel isolated.
“Great resignation”
This suggests a “big resignation” or “change” trend in 2022, a phenomenon similar to other first-world countries like the United States and Europe, where staffing needs are changing pandemics, Indeed said.
To avoid this situation, more than half of the workers said that higher compensation will help them to stay in their jobs longer.
Other factors that will retain employees include flexible job opportunities, career progression, senior appreciation, access to good health care, and mental health support.

Living conditions
The survey also shows that 20% of employees have been in their current job for five to six years, and 25% of them have already changed jobs in the last year.
For those who think their children are growing up, 60% of those surveyed said that having them will have an impact on deciding whether or not to leave work in the coming months.
