If you love it design, you can agree when I say that wrapping gifts with me is something of an art, the perfect temporary canvas to play with the color, shape and texture that inspires you at that particular moment. The shooter? The art of collecting a gift has a science to it, and in the words of Pablo Picasso, “You have to learn the rules like a professional in order to break them like an artist.”
So before we go shopping for all the wrapping paper and tape in the store, let’s get back to basics, right? Scroll down to see a step-by-step guide to collecting a gift perfect.
When it comes to collecting gifts, having a large flat workspace is very helpful. Our new craft room desk makes it easy to pack all of our supplies, and it still has plenty of room to spread out a large bowl of wrapping paper.
The most important factor in tidying up a gift is to start with a piece of paper cut to the right size. This is the hardest part (and the hardest part to explain!), So read on carefully.
10 Ways to Perfectly Wrap a Gift:
1. Release the wrapping paper face down, and place the gift on top of it. If your gift is rectangular, align the long sides of the box so that they are parallel to the end of the rolls. Fold the end of the paper over the gift until the box is completely folded. Mark the ends where they fit with the wrapping paper and add 1 inch. This indicates the width of your paper.
2. Cut the mark from the bottom up. We like to use it Sugar paper Because Target’s wrapping paper has a grid on the back.
Now you should have a piece of wrapping paper that is large enough to fully wrap your gift, but too long.
3. Make sure the box is still in place. Then fold the top edge of the paper to measure the top half of the side of the box. For example, if your box is 6 inches high, you want the paper to measure about 3.5 inches. Do the same on the bottom edge of the box, and cut.
4. Now you should have a piece of paper the perfect size to wrap around your gift box. From left to right, the paper should be wrapped all over the box. From top to bottom, the paper should reach halfway down the sides of the box.
5. Wrap the left and right sides of the paper together at the top and center of the box. Pull out the taught paper, and secure it with tape.
6. At the top open end, fold the paper in the corner as shown in the picture and fold it. Attach this to a good size box.
7. Again, fold the paper as shown.
8. Fold the two folded ends as shown in the picture. Fold the bottom flap up and fold it firmly, then place the tape.
9. Repeat at the opposite end. Then take a step back to impress with the work of collecting gifts!
10. Add the ribbon or bow you want.
