More than 3,300 flights have been canceled worldwide, more than 1,900 of them in the United States, as countries report cases of coronary artery disease caused by the Omicron variant.

England and Wales have reported 137,583 infections
The UK reported 137,583 new COVID-19 cases in England and Wales on Saturday compared to 162,572 in England, according to government data.
The test in England and Wales was positive and in 28 days there were 73 deaths, down from 154 reported in England on Saturday.
The government said data from Scotland and Northern Ireland would be updated after the New Year holiday.
England high school students wearing masks: Minister
High school students in England will be required to wear masks when they return to class after the Christmas break.
Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi said the move on Sunday was an attempt to “reduce disruption” in schools, as the highly transmissible omicron variant is leading to records of UK coronavirus infections.
There were already similar guidelines for masks for students over the age of 11 in Scottish and Welsh schools.
Fauci almost mentions Covid’s “vertical” rise, but sees hope
The U.S. is experiencing a “near-vertical rise” in Covid cases as the Omicron variant spreads across the country, but the peak may be in a few weeks, according to U.S. pandemic adviser Anthony Fauci.
“We are certainly in the midst of a very serious increase and increase in cases,” Fauci said on ABC’s “This Week” session, noting that the rise in infection rates is “really unprecedented.”
As the Omicron variant of the virus spreads around the world, more than 440,000 new cases were reported in the U.S. on Friday.

Bulgaria detects the first cases of Omicron
Bulgaria has detected the first 12 cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus, according to Balkan health chief inspector Angel Kunchev.
“We confirmed the new variant in the 12-person samples,” Kunchev told reporters.
Kunchev said the infected people, mostly from the capital Sofia, were experiencing mild symptoms and no one was hospitalized.
Thousands protest protests blocking Amsterdam
Thousands of people refused to gather in a square in Amsterdam for a rally against the Dutch government’s anti-coronary measures.
The city council of the Dutch capital outlawed the protest, saying police had shown signs that some protesters could go “prepared for violence”.
India has reported more than 27,000 cases
Infections in India have risen for the fifth day in a row, with 27,553 COVID cases in the last 24 hours.
Major cities in the country, including the financial capital Delhi and Mumbai, have seen the latest rise in COVID-19 cases, including the Omicron variant, which has caused a new wave of infection elsewhere in the world.
Although the number of active cases in Delhi has tripled in the last three days, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal said hospitalizations had not risen.

People who do not travel from the U.S. will have to isolate their cars for 10 days in France, under the supervision of local authorities, under new government restrictions that will take effect on Sunday.
All U.S. travelers must take a negative COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen test) within 48 hours, in addition to proof of vaccination, before embarking on a flight to France.
