How to install an M.2 SSD to increase the internal storage on your PS5

[ad_1]

Don’t worry if you need some time to do this step. I failed twice before it came out well, and everything is released to that top-right edge properly.

Step 5: Remove the expansion slot cover and SSD screw

It’s time to release things. Start by removing the metal slot slot on the top left of your PS5, next to the fan.

Using your screwdrivers — and loosey left, narrow right-mindedness; that is, turn it clockwise – remove the small screw on the top of the cover and set it aside for the time being. Be careful not to fall inside the fan. Slide the cover to the top edge of the PS5 to release the clip, then pull it out and set it aside.

After removing the cover, you will see a green area with five screw holes. Depending on the size of the SSD you purchased, you will use one of these holes to secure your drive to the PS5.

First, remove the SSD screw in the top slot (110) and set it aside, but keep it handy for now. Under the screw, you will see a silver stretch that looks like a silver ring. This space is used to ensure that your SSD is properly aligned with the circuit board. If you don’t know the size of your SSD, measure it against the green area (metal fingers facing you and the screw hole at the top) to see which slot to place the separator on. the distance in this hole.

Step 6: Mount the SSD

To install your SSD you will need to align its connection stones, which should already be facing you, with the PS5 circuit board. The easiest way to do this is to tilt the SSD slightly so that the top (where the screw will go) is horizontally higher than the bottom. Then firmly insert the SSD into the board until you hear it click.

Then gently push the top of the SSD down to align the top hole with the hole you placed in the gap. Tighten the SSD screw by rotating it back.
